Navigating the sun-soaked streets of HELL-A requires more than sharp weapons; key items are essential for progressing through specific side quests. In Dead Island 2, acquiring keycards opens up restricted military zones and allows players to finish critical objectives. Finding the Comms Area Keycard is a vital step during a specific quest in Venice Beach.
Starting the Quest and Finding the Convoy
To locate the keycard, you must first unlock the Diaries of the Dead side quest given by W.O. Rodriguez at the Venice Beach Tower. Head southeast along the beach towards the military zone to find a swarmed convoy of vehicles. Search the nearby laptop on a flatbed truck to retrieve the required USB memory stick.
Defeating the Signal Officer Zombie
Once you interact with the memory stick, a wave of infected will ambush your position. Defeat the initial horde to trigger the spawn of special zombies, including a named Apex variant called the Signal Officer. Eliminating the Signal Officer causes him to drop the Comms Area Keycard directly onto the ground.
Using the Comms Area Keycard
Pick up the dropped keycard and make your way toward the USMC military installation. Locate the locked gate adjacent to the barracks tent within the command area. Insert the keycard into the electronic terminal to grant access to the satellite dish and complete the quest objectives.
